The Vaishno Devi temple is located in Jammu, at the foothills of Trikuta Mountains, and it is a major pilgrimage site for Hindus from all over the world. It is a holy cave where the Goddess Vaishno Devi is said to have dwelled while engrossed in her meditation.

The temple comprises naturally formed caves, wherein the natural rock formations of the Goddess exists as manifestations of Gauri, Laxmi and Saraswati. The Vaishno Devi Yatra that takes pilgrims and devotees to the sanctum sanctorum, is nearly 13 kms long and used to be an arduous journey a few decades back. Currently, there are plenty of easy ways to get there, starting from smoothly paved roads for walking, stairs, helicopter rides, electric vehicles, ponies and even a cable car.
